in a Simi Valley courtroom
finding that four Los Angeles police officers
had used "justifiable force"
in the beating of Rodney King
in the days that followed
the city of Los Angeles
erupted into a war zone
on the third day of the rioting
against the advice of friends and family
i drove through the streets of LA
armed only with my camera
what i saw that day was pure chaos
or as Ice-T calls it,
"pure ghetto anger"

- who were standing across the street watching the whole thing -
while his friends load a refrigerator into their truck
- locked and loaded -
a national guard troop carrier
passes me on the freeway
